Willy Johannmeyer (27 July 1915 – 14 April 1970) was a German Oberstleutnant who served as one of Hitler's last adjutants.

Johannmeyer was born in Iserlohn, Westphalia. It is disputed that he joined the Schutzstaffel in 1933, but he was assigned to the 64th Infantry Regiment as a trainee in 1936, being promoted to a Leutnant within 2 years. Johannmeyer served in the Eastern Front in 1943, with his brave actions awarding him the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves (which is notably absent in his character's uniform). He was seriously wounded by the Soviets a few days later, but managed to survive and was promoted to Major.

Johannmeyer was promoted to his final rank of Oberstleutnant in August 1944, and got transferred to the Führerbunker in 1945 as an Army Adjutant. Hitler ordered him to fly to East Prussia to confirm his fantasy beliefs of the Eastern Front being able to stop the Soviets, and unsurprisingly denied Johannmeyer's devastating reports when he returned. Johannmeyer left the bunker on April 29th to deliver a political testament to Field Marshal Ferdinand Schörner, but his plane to take him there never arrived due to being attacked by the Soviets.

Johannmeyer fled to Iserlohn, but was soon arrested by the Americans. After his release, he worked in several industrial businesses before his death in 14 April 1970.
