Wilhelm Oxenius (9 September 1912 - 13 August 1979), was a Wehrmacht officer in Nazi Germany during World War II that served as an aide to Colonel General Alfred Jodl. Oxenius was part of Jodl's delegation when he signed the German unconditional surrender on 7 May 1945,

Oxenius spent almost three years in captivity before being released in 3 January 1948 and died on 13 August 1979.

In Downfall Universe[]

Wilhelm, known to Untergangers as 'General Y', appears in every parody that uses the Original Bunker Scene as well as Hitler Planning Scene, where he just usually sits there and looks at Hitler. In the planning scene, he looks three times at Jodl, and once at Goebbels at the end of Hitler's rant (although this is only in the theatratical and BluRay version). His face is sometimes covered by other things, like in one of Bossimias's parody. He has no lines.

In Downfall Parodies[]

He appears the same as in the film. He hasn't had any role in the parodies currently.

Analysis[]

A careful look at the scenes with 'General Y' would reveal that he wears braided shoulderboards without golden pips - i.e., he is a major. He also has a badge which resembles the Infantry Assault Badge. Oxenius was a major who was awarded the Infantry Assault Badge. He is also standing next to Jodl in the planning scene, as all other adjutants stand near their generals.

'General Y' was initially believed to be Bernd Freytag von Loringhoven, however because Loringhoven is played by Frank Brandes, who appears in the same scenes, it's not him.
