In the shelter, Wilhelm Mohnke comes to the operating room asking Ernst-Günther Schenck to come with him and those leaving Berlin. Schenck, while performing an operation, asks him doesn't he see what's going on in the shelter. Mohnke pleads once more asking him to help them since he's a doctor.
Schenck tells Werner Haase that he's done operating on the patient. Schenck offers a handshake and Hasse shows him his bloodstained hands. Hasse tells him to go and thanks him for helping out.
Later, Mohnke approaches Franz Schädle asking him to come as well, but upset over the outcome of the war he shoots himself in the mouth. Mohnke showing no emotion instructs his group of soldiers and Schenck to move forward.
